How your visa medical works
Most people need just one visit. Here's what happens from first message to signed form.
Check your form with us
Send a photo or PDF of your medical form on WhatsApp (07438 938678) or call 01772 282189. A GP checks the tests, the X-ray rules and any time limits, then confirms a fixed price.
Book a 45-minute appointment
Book online, or ask us to book it for you, at our clinic in Bamber Bridge, Preston. Allow extra time if your form has lots of pages or translations.
Prepare
Bring your passport, the form, any passport photos it asks for, your medicines list and, where needed, your NHS records or vaccination history. Wear glasses or contact lenses if you use them, for the eye test.
Your appointment
The GP takes your history and examines you: blood pressure, heart, lungs, abdomen, height, weight and eyesight. We take your blood and urine samples, and record an ECG if your destination needs one.
Chest X-ray, if needed
We book you in at our partner imaging centre. A radiologist reports on the film and the report comes straight back to us.
Results and sign-off
Results usually arrive within 2–5 working days. The GP reviews everything, completes and signs the form, and stamps it with the clinic stamp. You get the original and copies of every result.
Legalisation, if your country asks
Some countries, such as Spain, want the certificate apostilled. You send the signed certificate to the FCDO Legalisation Office yourself. We can tell you what they will need.

Book at the right time
- Many forms must be less than 3 months old when you submit them, and some X-rays less than 6 months old. Don't book too early.
- Allow at least a week for results, sign-off and posting, and longer if you need an apostille.
- If you are, or might be, pregnant, tell us. The X-ray may be delayed or replaced with a TB blood test.
